2026-27 School Year
A Message from David Jones, PrincipalDear Kings Mountain Elementary School Community,
Welcome to the 2026–27 school year!
I hope you and your family had a wonderful summer. I am excited to welcome you or back to Kings Mountain Elementary School for another school year.
As we begin this year together, one of our primary areas of focus will be academic growth for every student. Kings Mountain is a special community because of the strong relationships between our students, staff, and families. My goal is to continue building on those relationships while making sure each student is supported, challenged, and given opportunities to grow throughout the year.
This year, our classes will be organized as follows:
TK, Kindergarten, and 1st Grade
2nd and 3rd Grade
4th and 5th Grade
I am very pleased to welcome Lisa DeVry, who will be joining the Kings Mountain community as our new TK, Kindergarten, and 1st Grade teacher. I am also excited to welcome Morgan Dundas, who will be serving as our new TK, Kindergarten, and 1st Grade aide.
Chris Benoit will be serving in place of Ms. Maile Springer until she returns. We are grateful to Chris, he worked at Cunha Middle School that last 3 years as their science and ag teacher, for stepping in and supporting our students and school community during this time, and we look forward to welcoming Ms. Springer back.
As we move into the new school year, I want our students to know that we believe in them and expect them to continue growing, not only academically, but also as thoughtful, responsible, and caring members of our community. I also want our families to know how important your partnership is. Communication between home and school plays an important role in helping our students be successful.
I also want to remind families that I serve Kings Mountain Elementary School on a part-time basis. In addition to serving as Principal of Kings Mountain, I also serve as the Principal of Pilarcitos Alternative High School and the Director of La Costa Adult School. While my responsibilities take me between multiple school sites, I remain committed to being present and connected to the Kings Mountain community. My goal is to be on campus regularly, spend time in classrooms, connect with students and staff, and remain available to families. There will be times when meetings, trainings, or responsibilities at my other sites require me to be away from campus, but please know that supporting Kings Mountain and our students remains an important part of my work.
I am excited about what we can accomplish together this year. Thank you for your continued support and for being such an important part of the Kings Mountain Elementary School community. I look forward to seeing everyone soon and to a great 2026–27 school year!
Sincerely,
David Jones
