Read-A-Thon
A meaningful tradition that brings our community together.
What Is It?
Hosted by 2nd Grade Families
Celebrating the Joy of Reading!!
Every year, to kick off National Read Across America, we host our beloved Read-A-Thon. This special week is all about fostering a lifelong love of reading and celebrating the curiosity and imagination of our students.
Throughout the week, our students dive into their favorite stories, tracking their progress in whatever way inspires them most. Whether that is by the number of books read, pages turned, or minutes spent reading. We encourage families to get involved, as books read aloud to students are a wonderful part of the tally!
The excitement builds daily as students report their progress to our staff and watch the school's collective totals grow outside the office. The week culminates in a joyful celebration during Friday Circle, where we honor our students' achievements with a delicious treat.
To wrap up the festivities, we hold our favorite tradition: the Book Character Parade. It is a day of creativity and pride as students dress up as their favorite characters or carry the books that inspired them. Whether the costumes are simple or elaborate, the parade is a beautiful reminder of the stories that connect us all.
